This exciting live album was recorded at London's 606 Club on the 28th June 2008 and features Martin Drew and Mornington Lockett ably supported by Jim Hart, Steve Melling and Paul Morgan.
Martin Drew's continuing tribute to the legendary Jazz Couriers, sees Mornington Lockett playing both tenor and alto saxophones, bringing all the contrasts of mood from soulful to hectic in a recording full of change and surprise. Jim Hart is also in fine form on vibes, adding to this performance very much in the spirit of Tubby Hayes' other contribution to the original group. Steve Melling wrote the title track, and provides a fluidity and energy which blends perfectly with the solidity and subtlety brought to the rhythm section by the partnership of Paul Morgan and Martin himself.
As a long time collaborator with and for Ronnie Scott, Martin is more than qualified to lead this group with its generous desire to provide the most exciting live jazz to fans of the real thing. This album will not disappoint, and is a marvellous opportunity to hear this group at their vibrant best.
